The 940 Pro models come with a nickel boron coating on the internals, with stainless steel and hard-anodized aluminum parts inside to keep rust at bay, and Mossberg says these shotguns can run up to 1,500 rounds before they need to be cleaned. These shotguns are chambered for 2.75- or 3-inch shells, with loads of at least 1 1/8 oz.
The 940 Pro Waterfowl is built for conventional duck/goose hunting, with Mossy Oak’s Vintage Shadow Grass. The barrel is finished in Cerakote’s Patriot Brown; the MSRP is $1,246.
The 940 Pro Snow Goose line is built for exactly what its name implies, and that means there are two models. For jurisdictions that restrict snow goose hunters to the usual 2+1 magazine capacity, we see a five-round model (which would be plugged to keep the gun to a three-shell limit). But for jurisdictions where the gloves are off, and authorities allow hunters to target snow geese with extreme prejudice, we get the 13-round model, with space in the magazine for a dozen rounds. You can ask that goose: “Did I fire 12 times, or did I fire 13? Well do you feel lucky… punk?”…
Or maybe not. Whatever your choice, your Pro Snow Goose model comes with TrueTimber Viper Snow camo stocks, Battleship Gray Cerakote finish on the barrel, and a $1,323 MSRP.
